Rest and leisure should be imperative for top performers.
To perform on Top Level, you must rest deeply.
The new “flex” of super busyness and maximal productivity is soul depriving.
Truly wealthy people have plenty of time for activities they want to pursue and people they want to spend time with.
Free time transcends the importance of maximal optimization.
True wealth hides in your optionality to do whatever you want, not in your ability to maximally optimize.
Rich people optimize. Wealthy people harmonize.
Optimization kills creativity. Free time actualizes it.
Squeezing the last drop of the present moment is not the same as optimization for maximal productivity.
The first represents a moment captured by time, while the second is a time filled with relative tasks.

A couple of thoughts on rest and leisure from other people:
Dan Koe
"The DMN is a series of interconnected sections that activate as soon as people stop concentrating on external tasks, and shifts from outward-focused to inward-focused cognition."
In short, the brain is MORE active when you aren't focused on work.
The future is about balance, not overwork.
The future is about being human, not robotic.
Sahil Bloom
Remember, you can only be at your best when you take time for yourself.
Taking an hour each day won't impact your team's performance or relationships at home, but getting burnt out will.
One of the most difficult challenges for any ambitious person is eliminating the guilt associated with free time and rest.
Lesson: When you sprint, sprint hard. When you rest, rest hard.
